Jen + Vlad “The Party”

Being a wedding  planner and getting  married without a designated assistant is kinda like being a manicurist and not having nice nails….in that I should have probably had a coordinator …Not for ideas or designs…god knows I have plenty of those but to help me on the day of…. I also did not have anyone do my hair and make-up… yet another err….Not that I didn’t look or feel pretty on my day…But instead of enjoying the moment and having time scheduled to relax and be pampered I ended up sitting on the floor, rushing to apply make-up and side sweep my hair.  If I had a coordinator, I never would have thought that I could do all  the last minute touches at the venue…go home and get ready for pictures….I know better of course and avoid these scheduling crunches for my brides but couldn’t manage to give myself a little extra space.  All in all it was a beautiful  evening….but if I were to do it again….I would get some more help! So for all you crafty girls out there that think you can do your wedding by yourself…you probably can…it just won’t be as much fun.

We had our “reception” at a private home.  The theme was for me what I considered to be uber romantic……Spain…Flamenco…Black Lace…Tapas…Sangria…. and lots of Roses…Using furnishings from my previous business a “Moroccan Inspired” Cafe in Little Italy, we built a Caravan Style outdoor oasis….The ground was covered with Turkish Kilim rugs and the seating, low wooden banquette benches with tons of textured pillows and mosaic tables.  Italian cinema lights hung swagged above our heads and Religious “Jesus” candles set the mood.   Big Urns filled with multi-colored Ecuadorian Roses sat on a table with a beautiful black lace overlay…while the haunting sounds of live Flamenco guitar filled the air.  I wore a red dress with ruffles up the side and a big yellow rose in my hair…and reminded myself that their are all types of perfect weddings…What is yours?
